After high school, Mark enlisted in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. Following training, he was sent to New York City where he served as a Protective Service Agent for the Department of Defense, providing security to high-ranking DoD officials and their foreign guests. In 1988, Mark received an Army ROTC Scholarship and attended Colorado State University. He graduated in 1991 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. Mark earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1995, followed by a fellowship to study environmental law at The George Washington University Law School. In 1996, he was admitted to the Colorado bar.
In October of 1996, Mark entered the United States Air Force as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate (JAG). He served as Chief of Environmental and Civil Law and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. In January 1998, he became an Area Defense Counsel for the Eastern Circuit of the United States, defending over 40 criminal trials at Air Force bases throughout the eastern United States and Panama. Later, he was reassigned to Hanscom Air Force Base in Boston, Massachusetts, where he served as the Chief of Environmental Law, negotiating Federal Facility Agreements with the EPA, and continued his role as a Special Assistant United States Attorney and Deputy Staff Judge Advocate.
In March 2001, Mark joined a large national law firm, responsible for litigating complex commercial and business litigation matters. By 2007, he started his own practice focusing on family law matters, including child custody and child support cases.
In 2020, Mark reunited with his former colleague, G. Stephen Long, during the formation of GSL Trial Lawyers. Sadly, Mr. Long passed away in 2022, after which Mark became a shareholder in a downtown full-service law firm. In 2023, he established MGL Law, where he continues to dedicate his legal services to family law, specifically in areas such as divorce, child custody, and child support.
In his free time, Mark enjoys spending time with his two German Shepherds, Claire and Zorro, and his 4 lb. Chihuahua, Bella. He is also an avid motorcycle rider and enthusiast.

Divorce and Dissolution of Marriage: This area of family law focuses on the termination of marital relationships. It encompasses various issues such as asset division, spousal support (alimony), child custody, and child support.
Child Custody and Visitation: Child custody determines the legal and physical guardianship of a child, addressing crucial decisions about where the child will reside, who will make important decisions regarding their welfare, and the visitation rights of non-custodial parents or other family members.
Child Support: Child support laws are designed to ensure that both parents contribute financially to the upbringing of their children, even if they are no longer living together. The amount of child support is typically determined by factors such as each parent's income and the specific needs of the child.
Adoption: Adoption laws regulate the legal process through which an individual or couple becomes the legal parent(s) of a child who is not biologically theirs. This process often involves the termination of parental rights of the child's biological parents (if applicable) and the granting of legal rights and responsibilities to the adoptive parents.
Domestic Violence and Restraining Orders: Family law includes important provisions to protect individuals from domestic violence and abuse. This may involve obtaining restraining orders or protective orders to prevent further harm from an abusive family member or intimate partner.
Paternity: Paternity law deals with the legal relationship between a father and his biological child. It may involve establishing paternity through genetic testing, determining parental rights and responsibilities, and addressing related issues such as child support and custody.
